Profile on Past Interns: Gerald Hatchett III

As a member of the Research and Survey Team at Helping Ourselves to Transform, I gained firsthand insight into the inner workings of policy development and legislative research. Through this experience, I came to understand the extensive effort, coordination, and strategic planning required to move even a single piece of legislation forward. From attending bill hearings to collaborating on initiatives like ‘Her Voice, Her Future,’ I’ve learned the power of preparation, teamwork, and storytelling in driving meaningful change. Engaging with policymakers and community partners strengthened my confidence in communication and showed me how advocacy can directly impact communities. This journey has deepened my commitment to service and reinforced the importance of organizations like Helping Ourselves to Transform in shaping a better future.
