Through interning with HOTT, I learned how communities advocate for change, increase policy awareness, and promote social justice concepts. Through gathering legislative information, sitting in on discussions, and researching readings about the criminal justice system, I gained a better idea about the bigger issues, empowering communities, and the importance of being well-informed in civic engagement to bring about change.
