Through my internship with Helping Ourselves Transform (HOTT), I have gained valuable exposure to community advocacy, youth empowerment initiatives, and the inner workings of nonprofit organizations focused on justice reform and community development. So far, this experience has allowed me to observe how mentorship, education, and community engagement can positively influence young people, particularly through programs designed to build confidence, leadership skills, and college readiness. The internship has also provided me with insight into how community-based organizations collaborate with schools and public officials to create opportunities and resources for underserved populations.
